While pipe manufacturers might have found adjoining areas of Delhi as their market, manufacturers of mother machines have to cater to the demands of even larger geographical areas. Development work happening in states such as, Bihar, Jharkhand, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Chattisgarh and Assam has triggered the demand for pipes. This has led to numerous pipe manufacturers setting their base in these locations for which they buy machinery from the companies based in Kirti Nagar and other regions of West Delhi. The demand is so high that the three units of Hindustan Plastics in west Delhi are not able to keep up with it.
So, Kalra is planning to set up a new plant spread over an area of 30, 000 sq m in Ballabhgarh, "There is hardly any space left for more production here, so we are planning to set up another plant in Ballabhgarh. The demand is more than supply. We have our machines in areas as far as Guwahati and Kashmir. For the last six month queries from places in Bihar have also gone up significantly," Kalra added.
